Viking ravens were an important symbol in Norse mythology and Viking culture. These birds were believed to be messengers of the god Odin, who was considered the god of war, wisdom, and death. According to Norse mythology, Odin had two ravens named Huginn and Muninn, which meant "thought" and "memory" respectively. These ravens would fly all over the world during the day and return to Odin at night to report what they had seen and heard.
The Viking people also believed that the ravens had the power to predict the outcome of battles. They would release a raven before a battle, and depending on the direction it flew, they would interpret it as a sign of victory or defeat. If the raven flew towards the enemy, it was a bad omen, but if it flew towards the Viking army, it was a good sign.
